Odd One is a visual search game. A grid fills with the same little symbol over and over, except one tile that’s a bit off. Find the odd one out and tap it. Then do it again, on a bigger board, with a smaller difference, against the clock.
It starts as an easy spot the difference on a 3×3 grid and grows to 9×9, where the odd tile is turned by just 15 degrees or drawn a shade lighter. Then, from the 10th board, the lights go out: only a small circle of light shows the tiles, and you have to sweep it around to find what you’re looking for.
Odd One is part of Unrot, a series of twenty short games that each put one mental skill to the test: memory, attention, speed or logic. Twenty games. Zero brainrot.
How to play
- One tile is different: it’s turned, it’s missing a line, or it’s a shade lighter. Everything else is identical.
- Tap it. Each find brings a new, bigger or trickier board.
- A wrong tap costs 2 seconds, so don’t just tap around.
- From the 10th board the grid goes dark. Move your mouse, drag a finger or use the arrow keys to move the light, then tap the odd one.
Scoring
- Your score is the number of finds before the clock runs out.
- You start with 60 seconds. Every find adds 1 to 2 seconds back; bigger boards give more.
- Play the Daily for one scored run on the same boards as everyone else, and keep your Unrot streak alive.
Tips
- Don’t read the tiles one by one. Let your eyes go soft and look at the whole grid: the odd one often jumps out on its own.
- Check the dot first. It moves when a tile is turned, even by a little.
- Shade differences are easiest to see from a distance. Lean back.
- In the dark, sweep in rows, like mowing a lawn, so you don’t cover the same tiles twice.
