Cipher is a code breaking game with a crew of very chatty aliens. A key at the top of the screen pairs strange symbols with the numbers 1 to 9. An alien beams in and says one symbol. You’re the translator: find it in the key and tap its number. Fast.
It starts easy with four symbols. Then the key grows to all nine, two symbols swap numbers without asking (RE-KEY!), and late in the run the key blacks out, so you have to remember it. It’s a symbol matching game that turns into a secret code game halfway through.
Cipher is part of Unrot, a series of short games that each put one mental skill to the test: memory, attention, speed or logic. Zero brainrot.
How to play
- An alien says a symbol in its speech bubble.
- Find that symbol in the key at the top and tap its number (or press it on your keyboard).
- A wrong number costs 2 seconds and your streak. The alien waits until you get it.
- RE-KEY! Two symbols swap numbers every so often. The next aliens ask exactly those two.
- From 40 seconds the key blacks out for a few seconds at a time. Answer from memory.
Scoring
- Each translation is 10 points × your multiplier.
- Every 4 right in a row raise the multiplier, up to ×5. A wrong number resets it.
- You have 60 seconds. Play the Daily for one scored run on the same key as everyone else, and keep your Unrot streak alive.
Tips
- Learn where symbols sit, not just what they look like. The numbers never move, so “the star lives at 7” still works in the dark.
- When a symbol shows up as NEW, look at it once, properly. You’ll see it again.
- On a RE-KEY, watch the two sunflower slots. Those are the next two questions.
- Slow is smooth. A wrong number costs more time than a careful look.
